One Week Late

Alan Braxe and Fred Falke - Intro

I’ve always liked the very few Alan Braxe tracks I happened upon; the latest being the remix of Justice’s D.A.N.C.E. And now I finally listened to “The Upper Cuts” collection, which are mostly new to me and mostly good stuff. (There’s a 99% chance Justice will play some Alan Braxe at Holocene. Hearing damage by French House? Yes please!)

Black Lips - Cold Hands

The Mendoza Line - 31 Candles
NOT! Because YouTube doesn’t have everything. “30 Year Low” is a pretty good (mini) album. 31 Candles is my favorite track from it. Few free tracks that aren’t it here.

Michael Jackson - Billie Jean

The first moonwalk is the best.

Midlake - Head Home

The official video uses a shorter version of the song.

Midnight Juggernauts - Shadows

Monkey Swallows the Universe - Little Polveir

Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up

I’m Just Daft

Dear girl at the brewfest who was waiting for me to talk to you: I’m sorry.

I seriously thought you were with that guy who was walking near you, because, well, I was raised to be a pessimist. But then he split off in another direction. And you? You walked past me while delivering amazing eye contact. Then you looked over your shoulder. Back at me. Hesitating. (While Bobby telling me to talk to you and how money I am.)

So you are into guys who waste opportunities?

I’m an ass.

The original plan was to have Montana to pick me up in Portland on the way to Seattle for Daft Punk. But I had to go back to Corvallis. Because of all the things I could’ve forgotten, I forgot the tickets.

I’m an ass.

(That’s far better than showing up in Seattle without the tickets.)

But enough about my mistakes.

I need a new superlative for the Daft Punk show.

Thousands of people dancing and jumping to the same beats at earthquake* volume. Half of them landing on my feet.

It was LOUD. Kidney shaking visions blurring loud. I’m not exaggerating. During The Rapture’s First Gear, I noticed that the bass was blurring my vision.

It was one of the most physically demanding thing I’ve done. I’ve never sweat so much in my life. Or had so many other people’s sweat on me.

Montana: o/

Now here are some music that aren’t Daft Punk.

Camera Obscura - Super Trouper

Escort - All Through The Night

Pelle Carlberg - Clever Girls Like Clever Boys Much More Than Clever Boys Like Clever Girls

(The Real) Tuesday Weld - Bathtime In Clerkenwell

Tegan and Sara - Back in Your Head

The White Stripes - You Don’t Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You’re Told)

* Earthquake is now an adjective. I just made it so.

Robots, Texans, and Pot Smokers

Since updates in the concerts page aren’t reflected in the RSS feed, and instead of mentioning them in IRC, a forum, e-mail, and AIM (and Twitter!? and Facebook!? and Last.fm events!? and to Your Mom!?), I’ll just write about them here. If you want to join me, let me know. Or if you want to go there and pretend not to know me, that’s cool too.

Daft Punk will be at the WaMu Theater in Seattle on July 29. The newly married Montana and I are going. We have yet to order tickets. But we are going!

Spoon is going to perform at Crystal Ballroom on September 6. Let’s rock it!

The Flaming Lips will be at the Roseland Theatre on September 19. I’ll make the drive for this one if I have some company. I have not listened to the latest album. Mediocre reviews or something. But I do like quite a few of their older songs.
